Management and Managerial Skills with Elements of Coaching
GOAL OF THE STUDIES
The goal of the studies is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage employees in an organisation.
DESCRIPTION
Gaining psychological, managerial, and coaching competencies. The students learn about the psychological mechanisms of human functioning and learn how to use them in working with people. Workshop, training, simulation. In most classes, in addition to mini-lectures, activating teaching methods are used. The curriculum includes three thematic blocks: a block of psychological knowledge and skills, a block devoted to coaching and its applications in the work of a manager, as well as an economic and legal block which provides basic knowledge in the field of corporate finance management and labour law.
GRADUATE PROFILE
After completing the studies:
- you will be equipped with the knowledge essential for managing people in an organisation
- you will develop your managerial skills
- you will gain knowledge in the field of: human resource management, corporate finance management, labour law
- you will be equipped with human resource management tools in an organisation in the field of, among others: management and leadership, change management, crisis and risk management, shaping incentive systems in the organisation, creative problem solving, building an employee evaluation system, building capability models and system, staff recruitment and selection as well as employees’ career planning, recognising and effectively coping with difficult situations in an organisation.
CURRICULUM
The curriculum is based on three thematic blocks: a block of psychological knowledge and skills, a block devoted to coaching and its applications in the work of a manager, as well as an economic and legal block which provides basic knowledge in corporate finance management and labour law. The students will be equipped with model management tools, basics of labour law and economics, they acquire managerial skills, learn how to establish effective social contacts, and acquire skills such as self-presentation, conflict resolution and negotiation. The elements of coaching help learn about one’s own resources and support the personal development of the students.
LECTURERS
The classes are conducted by research and teaching employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Law, and employees of the University of Economics, lecturers equipped with many years of teaching experience, and practitioners – licensed trainers with extensive workshop and training experience. The studies are conducted by three groups of specialists: psychologists, lawyers and economists.

Number of hours: 220 hours
Organisation of classes:
Classes take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., two sessions per month.
Graduation criteria:
In order to complete postgraduate studies, a student must write a diploma thesis.
Graduation document:
Postgraduate diploma issued by the University of Silesia in Katowice.

Candidates
The studies are addressed to managers, people preparing to take on the role of a manager, and all people who want to increase their competencies in management.

Admission criteria:
Candidates are admitted to studies according to the registration order.

FEES
After being admitted to postgraduate studies, you may start your studies, subject to paying the fee for postgraduate studies. Payments should be made to the student’s individual account, within the deadlines specified in the agreement.
